8.8.2020 on tour : Festival ATOLL in Karlsruhe
Lighter doesn’t necessarily mean easier, even though it seems so.
Two persons, one format, wood – in this circus-theatre performance two artists investigate the metamorphosis of this relentless but gentle material in relation to themselves. Whilst discovering the balance, with objects and on objects, they find themselves in various situations of dependency and trust, power and sensitivity in between flying sticks and floating planks.
The ATOLL Festival for Contemporary Circus takes place for the fifth time this year. It is one of the few festivals in Europe devoted exclusively to this genre, and in these few years it has become one of the trend-setting festivals on the scene. This year it has been shortened by one day, with less audience, but at a corona-like distance, with slightly fewer artists than last year and largely without circus tents, but with a programme that is certainly worth seeing, as we think.
19.5.2020 Let's work again!
Slowly, but slowly, society is opening and getting back to normal. This slow return to normal made Tollhaus Karshaus give thir stage to Julian Vogel and Josef Stiller / Klub Griko and both artists are happy to work together on some last details of their play 122 x 244. Hopefully soon on tour again!
werden sie nun an letzten Details von 122 x 244 feilen, bevor sie das Stück im Herbst endlich wieder zeigen können! Hoffentlich können wir bald einige Termin für den Herbst / Winter veröffentlichen!

122 x 244
- and a lot of little pieces
Every carpenter or DIY freak will be jealous of this show by Klub Girko. In 122 x 244 and a lot of little pieces, Josef Stiller and Julian Vogel manufacture a masterpiece of wood. With incredible balance tricks (and without losing their wallets) they set to work, balancing with ease at blood-curdling heights amid flying sticks and floating planks.
On stage: a wooden plank of 122x244cm, a lot of smaller blocks and pieces, and two people. In the course of this playful performance, the two artists Josef Stiller and Julian Vogel investigate the properties of this unyielding yet warm material, and their relationship to it, through the actions of balancing, throwing and stacking. What changes in these transformations? And what does it mean for the performers? Lighter doesn’t necessarily mean easier, even though it may seem so... The two artists are connected by a common fascination with movement. In this circus-theatre spectacle they find themselves in various situations of dependency and trust, power and sensitivity – in between flying sticks and floating planks.
Josef Stiller and Julian Vogel founded Klub Girko in 2017 while still students at Fontys Academy of Circus and Performance Art in Tilburg, Netherlands. They see Klub Girko as a space to research new creations in the performing arts but also as a reminder to keep things moving and stop them from getting stuck in a comfort zone or certain style. Under the label Klub Girko the artists tour collective and solo works. The company is based in the Netherlands.
