22.11.2018 Rien à faire!
Spot The Drop are heading to France! Quite proud to present their play in the motherland of new circus for the first time - on Dec 1 and 2 at the Theatre in Haguenau.
Chairs, balls, rings, clubs, various odds and ends are packed - and also a new French was found: Rien à faire! Thanks to Kim Huynh, Niels' and Malte's partner with Gandini Juggling!
Catch of the day
Where does habit stop and madness begin?
Spot the Drop combine their obsessive object manipulation with snappy tunes and wonderfully absurd irreverence. Caught up in a time loop, waiting in vain, they juggle themselves through their eternal day, filled with peculiar quirks and strange rituals. Chairs, balls, rings, clubs, various odds and ends become representatives of a complex, desperate world, inhabited only by our tragicomic protagonists. The show is minutely choreographed and clocked to the second; what starts off as extreme boredom quickly escalates and develops into a Beckettian Theatre of the Absurd, where the conflicts are old yet far from resolved.
And so it all revolves around one question: where does habit stop and madness begin?
Spot the Drop are the two jongleurs extraordinaires Niels Seidel (ESAC, Brussels) and Malte Steinmetz (Circomedia, Bristol). They first met in 2009 in Wuppertal and started working in cabaret, corporate events and dinner shows. British met Belgian humour. In 2010, Spot the Drop started to collaborate with Smashed by Gandini Juggling, also creating the street show Vorwürfe & Handgreiflichkeiten. An abundance of material for two jugglers – accumulated in hotels, train stations, airports and elsewhere – lead the two to conceive the stage show Stehfleisch & Sitzvermögen,
