Sospiri - the sigh - are 13 scenes danced, played, artistically performed, depicted with a white feather and 13 palm leaf rips. The play tells episodes from life. Three young women are looking for their place in the world - for their destiny. They walk through experiences from childishly playful to threateningly powerful. They show how balance can be found everywhere and how close to other lightness and heaviness can be. In the 13th and last act finally the feather and the palm leaf ribs are sued to set up a giant mobile - the Sanddorn Balance.
The object traditionally occupies an important place in Rigolo productions. These objects are always self-developed originals that are never only presented as objects, but are cleverly integrated into the dramaturgy in cooperation with the actresses. The result is an exciting object theater. Also important is the playing area, which reminds of a desert dune with several hundred kilos of sand.
The sand play area is also reminiscent of the first performances of the Sanddorn Balance, over 20 years ago in the Mongolian desert in knee-deep sand, created and presented by Mädir Eugster Rigolo. In Sospiri it is now his daughter Marula Eugster Rigolo, who is not only on stage as an actress, but also as the choreographer the artistic director of the project.
As a living experiment, RIGOLO's productions aim for a wholeness of dance, artistry, visual art and music in sophisticated equipment. Mädir Eugster and Lena Roth found Rigolo in 1978. The choreography Sanddorn Balance (1999) is shown all over the world, in 2014 the full-length production WINGS was created, which heralded the change of generations. With Sospiri, Mädir Eugster is more than just a consultant in the background ... What Rigolo conjures up on stage - magic, artistry, dance and performance in one - amazes every audience.
