JULIAN VOGEL: CHINA SERIES
INSTALLATION and PERFORMANCE
on stage and in the museum
organised by Festival Cirqu' in collaboration with Forum Schlossplatz
in Aarau / CH
2021, 10 - 20 June
Fragile, but timeless.
Turning, rolling, falling
Important is the object, the diabolo: it has been transformed. The indestructible plastic bowls have been replaced by ceramic and have become fragile. When they fall, they break. Important is to look: Taking your time. Is something happening? When? How? And the space: interacting, observing, meeting.
The audience becomes the point of reference, both observer and choreographer. It chooses its role, active or passive, and inserts itself with its presence into the transience of object and situation.
In CHINA SERIES, Julian Vogel (*1990) combines contemporary performance, installation, circus and dance into a multi-layered, interdisciplinary whole. CHINA SERIES is Julian Vogel's debut work and was recently awarded by circusnext 2020 - 2021.

CHINA SERIES is an interdisciplinary project by Swiss artist Julian Vogel (*1990, Lucerne) , in which contemporary performance, installation, circus, dance and sculpture combine to form a multi-layered whole. His starting point is the diabolo: two half bowls connected by an axis. But the artist robs the diabolo of its original form or materiality by forming countless new diabolos, not from plastic, but from fragile ceramics, found dishes, for example. Julian Vogel sees the ongoing series of works as a constantly growing research laboratory. The various, sometimes unusual formats interact with the surroundings and the visitors, creating unusual spaces of experience. CHINA SERIES will be shown at festivals starting in summer 2021.

The tour of inTarsi will continue until autumn 2021. This was announced by Cia "eia" this morning. The many cancellations, postponements and also loss of income are the triggers for this decision, but also their connection to the audience.
"We are already on the rehearsals for NUYE, our new play, and it will - hopefully - premiere on schedule in summer 2021 - but we don't want to disappoint our spectators and fans and we are getting many performances from inTarsi in autumn 2021", say Fabrizio and Armando from Cia "eia".
